birthday: November 8th
zodiac sign: Scorpio
location: My computer chair
music: Basically anything, as much as I like to say I hate rap, there's some of it that I'll listen to. Some of my favorite bands are SOAD, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Counting Crows, The Killers, Aerosmith, etc.
book: A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, To Kill a Mockingbird, Wicked (not done with it yet, but it's amazing), The Lovely Bones
style: If you asked anyone they'd probably tell you it's preppy, I honestly don't know what to call my style.
government: A necessary asset to society. Sure, anarchy sounds cool, and I must admit I like the word, but a world without any structure would fall apart. If you are asking my opinion on our government, to the naked eye it is great. However, it is the politics that people have a problem with and the two are often confused. I certianly do not like the Bush Administration, and I think my following answers should emphasize that.
voting: I understand why many people don't vote. They feel that their vote does not count for anything, but this is quite a twisted notion. I'm not sure how many of you are aware of this, but less than half of the American population took part in this past election. "What's one vote?" Well, one vote plus the rest of the people that didn't vote is a hell of a lot. But, if you have people like Cathrine Harris booting people off of the registered voter's list, well then, we have quite a few problems, don 't we? I urge everyone to get involved with their government. You have the right, use it, but please, just make sure you cast an educated vote.
abortion: Personally, I don't think I would get an abortion. Politically, I am pro-choice. There are too many what-if's. The idea that someone can tell me what to do with my body just sickens me. No form of birth control is 100% effective. There are cases where people have been responsible and have used both condoms and the pill and still gotten pregnant. Until there is a way to absolutley prevent an unwanted pregnancy, abortion must be an option. There are already problems with overpopulation in this world.
drugs/alchohol/smoking: This is a touchy subject for me. If one wishes to harm their body in such a way, far be it from me to stop them. I personally do not do these things, but I have experimented with alchohol and smoking (never any illegal drugs). Alchoholism runs in my family and it is a very scary thing, I absolutley despise seeing people drunk. Obviously, it is a sad thing to see how drugs and alcohol tear families apart and ruin lives. I think more should be done to prevent these things from happening.
sex: We need it for the continuation of the species. People are starting to have it too early, we need more sex education in schools.
labels: It isn't the labels that I mind so much, it's the stereotypes that come along with them, and the rivalry between groups. I become quite annoyed when someone says that they dislike an entire group of people. I've had many arguments with people about why you can't be friends with people of one social section. I hang out with very diverse people, from preps, to ghettotastik people, to goths. So I never let labels get in the way. I don't think I have a label, my closest friends are all the same way. We're just us. It doesn't bother me.
homosexuality: I have an uncle who's gay. People are born with their sexuality, it is not something you can control. I don't really know how one could have an opinion on this. What's your opinion on heterosexuality?
racism: I can take hipocrisy, but I am not tolerant of intolerant people.
where did you hear about the community?
what makes you want to join?
You all seem like cool people. I like helping people and I give good advice (ask any of my friends, I'm the Dr. Phil of the group), but I can also do a good deal of venting. Oh, and I was looking for a community to join that didn't require pictures. Trés cool.
are you willing to be active in the community & promote?
Duh. I wouldn't apply if I wasn't. I'm on LJ all the flipping time. I have nothing better to do with my life, so I might as well spend my free time helping people with their issues =o)
do you have any questions you would like to ask or suggestions?
You do realize that the word is spelled, "form", right? Sorry, I'm a spelling Nazi. Was it spelled forum for a reason? I'm not trying to be offensive, I apologize if it's coming off that way.
